La Liga announces monthly award nominees for the 2026-27 season start

La Liga confirmed the nominees for the August monthly awards following the opening matches of the 2026-27 campaign. Barcelona manager Hansi Flick earned a coach of the month nomination after leading his side to three consecutive victories against Elche, Athletic Club, and Rayo Vallecano. Barcelona captain Raphinha is among the contenders for player of the month, having recorded five goals and one assist in his first three appearances. Deportivo striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Jude Bellingham, Álex Baena, and Nahuel Tenaglia join him on the shortlist. Additionally, Barcelona defender Xavi Espart is nominated for the under-23 player of the month award after securing a position in the team's starting lineup. The league will now proceed with the selection process to determine the winners of the individual honors for the opening month of play.
