Lacrosse star Matthew Fine returns to football for his final senior season

Matthew Fine, a senior at Loyola High, has returned to the football team after stepping away following his sophomore year. The lacrosse standout, who holds a scholarship to Utah for his primary sport, previously left the gridiron to prioritize lacrosse training. Despite the gap in participation, Fine successfully transitioned back to the running back position, recording back-to-back performances with over 100 rushing yards. Most recently, he contributed 105 yards to a 14-7 victory over Mira Costa. Coach Drew Casani noted that Fine maintains significant speed and on-field vision, allowing him to contribute immediately despite starting his senior year at the bottom of the depth chart. Fine intends for this to be his final season of competitive football as he prepares for his future in college lacrosse.
