Law shuts out Hamden in season-opening football victory

Jonathan Law defeated Hamden 36-0 in an SCC football game held Thursday at Joe Bruno Field. Senior quarterback Matt Witteman accounted for all five of the team's touchdowns, recording three passing scores and two rushing touchdowns. The Lawmen defense forced four turnovers, including three in the third quarter that led directly to 14 points. Hamden struggled to maintain possession and saw a 52-yard touchdown run negated by a holding penalty in the first quarter. Law coach Ryan Pearson noted the defensive unit played with high intensity and speed throughout the contest. Hamden coach Tom Dyer stated the team plans to evaluate the performance to address execution issues following the loss.
