Lilia Calvert scores twice to lead Rutgers past Princeton

Freshman Lilia Calvert scored the first two goals of her career to help Rutgers secure a 4-2 victory over Princeton on Sunday at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, New Jersey. The win marks the first of the 2026 season for Rutgers, which entered the match with an 0-1-3 record. Calvert, who was shifted from forward to midfield for the match, scored both of her goals in the second half just four minutes apart. Princeton, the reigning two-time Ivy League champion, conceded four goals to the Scarlet Knights after relying on a rotation of goalkeepers through the early nonconference schedule. Rutgers head coach Mike O’Neill utilized 21 players during the match, including a series of tactical substitutions in the second half. The result provides Rutgers with its first win following a winless start to the fall campaign.
