Los Angeles Rams terminate contract with cornerback Alex Johnson

The Los Angeles Rams officially severed ties with third-year cornerback Alex Johnson on September 10. The team terminated the agreement via waivers following an injury settlement reached on September 9. Johnson had previously been waived with an injury designation on August 29 before reverting to the Rams’ injured reserve. A former undrafted free agent from UCLA, Johnson participated in all three of the team's preseason games this year but has not appeared in a regular-season NFL contest. He is now free to sign with any team, though he must wait for his settlement to conclude plus an additional three weeks before a potential reunion with the Rams is permissible. The move occurred as the Rams elevated safety Tanner Ingle to the active roster during the week leading up to their 27-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
