LSU excludes former NFL players from roster for season opener against Clemson

LSU head coach Lane Kiffin finalized the Tigers' roster for the 2026 season opener against Clemson without the inclusion of several former NFL players. While East Baton Rouge Parish District Court Judge Will Jorden recently granted an injunction allowing 31 plaintiffs to seek a fifth year of eligibility, LSU elected not to add Dae'Quan Wright, Zxavian Harris, or Blake Cotton to the squad before the deadline. Former Notre Dame defensive end Junior Tuihalamaka is the only addition to the roster following the court ruling. Despite their exclusion from the opening roster, SEC rules permit LSU to add players throughout the season if roster spots remain available. The Tigers face Clemson at Tiger Stadium on September 5, 2026.
