Luis Gil thrives as Yankees reconsider his role in Minor Leagues

Luis Gil has been performing strongly in the Minor Leagues since returning from injury. Activated on August 11 after a shoulder injury, he made several rehab appearances before joining Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he has transitioned to a bullpen role. In his last two outings, Gil has pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Through this month, Gil has recorded eight strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings, facing a limited number of hits. He was previously the 2024 American League Rookie of the Year but has faced challenges securing a position in the Yankees' rotation due to injuries.
