Mahomet-Seymour cross country runner Anniston Huff earns weekly athlete award

Mahomet-Seymour senior Anniston Huff received the WCIA 3 Athlete of the Week honors on Thursday. Huff opened her senior cross country season by running a personal-best time of 18:07 at the Clinton Light It Up Invitational. Her performance marked a significant improvement from her junior year best of 19:13. Following the meet in Clinton, she secured a first-place individual finish at the Charleston Invitational. Head coach Jama Grotelueschen noted that Huff has displayed growth as both an athlete and a leader this season. Huff is now eligible for a $1,500 year-end prize, and she is scheduled to compete in the Lee Halberg Invitational in Springfield on Saturday, Sept. 12.
