Moses Lake Mavericks travel to Hawaii for Iolani cross country Invitational

The Moses Lake Mavericks cross country team is traveling to Hawaii to compete in the 2026 Iolani cross country Invitational. The squad, comprised of 22 boys and 14 girls, departs ahead of the scheduled September 12 race to adjust to the region's climate and humidity. Head coach Larry Dagnon, alongside team members Rachel Nofziger, Natalie Vehrs, Lane Christensen, and Colton Lucero, noted that the program organizes this student-funded trip every two years. Athletes are preparing for specific performance goals, including sub-16-minute race times for the boys and sub-19-minute times for the girls. The team plans to spend time hiking and training upon arrival to acclimate to the lower elevation and oxygen-dense air.
