France secured a 3-1 victory against Senegal in their opening Group I match at the World Cup held in New York. Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot of AC Milan started and played the entirety of the match. After a goalless first half, Kylian Mbappé netted the first goal for France in the 66th minute. Rabiot assisted the second goal, scored by Bradley Barcola in the 82nd minute. Senegal responded with a late goal from Mbaye, but Mbappé quickly reclaimed the two-goal advantage with a long-range strike. France will face Iraq next on June 22.
