Malachi Toney sets school record in Hurricanes' win over Panthers

Malachi Toney recorded 16 receptions for 194 yards, setting a school record, during Miami's 52-23 victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers on October 25, 2026. Toney's performance contributed significantly to Miami's offensive strength, as he secured 12 receptions by halftime. Panthers cornerback Raion Strader had expressed confidence in limiting Toney but managed just one tackle in the game. After the match, Toney delivered a terse response to inquiries about the Panthers' defence, saying 'No comment.' Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi acknowledged the team's struggles to contain Toney, indicating that their coverage plans were inadequate. Toney has now surpassed the 2,000-yard mark for his career, joining a select group of active players at that milestone.
