Manchester United plan January bid for Sporting Lisbon's Flavio Goncalves

Manchester United are reportedly preparing a £42 million bid for Sporting Lisbon winger Flavio Goncalves in January. The club's struggles in front of goal this season have prompted them to seek reinforcements in their attacking line, having scored just 15 goals in 11 matches so far. Goncalves, 19, has impressed with three goals and one assist in nine appearances for Sporting this season. United will compete with Chelsea for the forward, who has a reported release clause of €60 million. Despite Sporting's desire to retain him, they have not made significant progress on a new contract.
