Manchester United's transfer strategy faces setbacks due to Manuel Ugarte's knee injury sustained at the World Cup on June 27. Ugarte was expected to be sold this summer to fund the signing of a third midfielder, alongside Ederson and Mateus Fernandes. However, potential interest from clubs in Turkiye and Italy may dwindle if Ugarte's ACL tear is confirmed, which could sideline him for up to nine months. The club must reassess its plans, as manager Michael Carrick aims to strengthen multiple areas, including midfield, left-back, and goalkeeper.
- •Ugarte suffered a knee injury in Uruguay's match against Spain.
- •Manchester United plans to sell Ugarte to finance new signings.
- •Interest in Ugarte may decrease if the injury is serious.
- •Michael Carrick seeks improvements in various squad positions.
- •Club awaits further details on Ugarte's injury status.
