Marshall Independent School District honors football coaches Bill Harper and Dennis Parker

The Marshall Independent School District will commemorate former football coaches Bill Harper and Dennis Parker with upcoming facility naming ceremonies in September 2026. Officials plan to dedicate the athletic pavilion to Harper and the football field to Parker. Harper, who served as defensive coordinator during the 1990 state championship season and later as head coach, will be honored with a reception and on-field presentation on September 11. Parker, who led the Mavericks to the 1990 state title, will participate in a meet-and-greet on September 17 followed by a reception and on-field recognition on September 18. These events coincide with scheduled high school football games at Marshall High School. The district previously recognized other figures in local athletic history, including Emma Bennett and Y.A. Tittle, by naming facilities in their honor.
