Memphis wrestling legend Bill Dundee dies at age 82

Bill Dundee, a fixture of the Memphis professional wrestling scene, died Sunday at age 82. Conrad Thompson confirmed the passing, though no specific cause of death was provided. Dundee, who was diagnosed with dementia in 2023, began his career in 1962 after training as a trapeze artist in Australia. He rose to prominence in the United States as a nine-time AWA Southern Heavyweight Champion and a primary antagonist to rivals including Jerry Lawler and Jimmy Valiant. Beyond his time in the ring for CWA and USWA, Dundee later served as a manager and promoter on the independent circuit. He officially retired from active competition in 2019.
