Mets consider keeping Torrens; Red Sox seek infield support ahead of trade deadline

With the MLB trade deadline approaching on August 3, several teams are assessing their options. The Red Sox, currently 55-50 and holding the second AL wild card, are looking for shortstop help due to injuries to Trevor Story and Tsung-Che Chang. Meanwhile, the Mets are reportedly inclined to retain catcher Luis Torrens amid interest from the White Sox, aiming to compete rather than initiate a rebuild. The Cubs and White Sox are exploring trade for Reid Detmers from the Angels, who has shown inconsistent performance this season. Additionally, the Rays are targeting Freddy Peralta and Zach Neto to enhance their roster.
