Michigan defeats Western Michigan 13-12 on a final second touchdown pass

Michigan opened its season with a 13-12 win against Western Michigan in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines trailed for the majority of the game as the Broncos maintained a 12-7 lead behind four field goals. Bryce Underwood led a six-play, 75-yard drive in the final 35 seconds to reach the opposing 47-yard line. With no time remaining on the clock, Underwood threw a pass to JJ Buchanan, who caught the ball in the end zone to secure the victory. Western Michigan controlled the clock for over 40 minutes and forced three Michigan turnovers throughout the contest. Michigan finished with nine penalties for 80 yards while struggling to sustain drives on third down.
