Michigan State University board of trustees approves hiring of Dan Bartholomae

Michigan State University’s board of trustees unanimously approved the hiring of Dan Bartholomae as the school's new athletic director during a meeting held Friday, Sept. 11. While Bartholomae had already begun working in the role on Aug. 31, the vote formalized his position with the university. He signed a five-year contract featuring a $1.3 million base salary and a $75,000 annual raise. Bartholomae arrived from Western Michigan University, where he served as athletic director since the beginning of 2022. He replaces J Batt, who departed for the University of Kentucky. Additionally, Spartan Ventures CEO Jon Palumbo announced on Sept. 8 he is joining Batt at the University of Kentucky, leading to the appointment of Eric Reinke as interim CEO for Spartan Ventures.
