Mississippi State softball head coach Samantha Ricketts signs contract extension

Mississippi State softball coach Samantha Ricketts signed a contract extension through the 2030 season. Athletic director Zac Selmon confirmed the deal on September 9 following a campaign where Ricketts led the program to its first Women's College World Series appearance. The Bulldogs finished the 2026 season with a 43-21 record, marking a new program high for wins. Ricketts has guided the team to five NCAA Tournament appearances and two super regionals since taking over as head coach in 2019. While financial terms of the extension were not disclosed, Selmon noted the move serves to secure the coach as she approaches the mark for the most wins in school history. Ricketts enters her eighth season with the team maintaining a.633 winning percentage, the highest in the program's history.
