Monroe tops New York state football rankings as 11 teams make list

The New York State Sportswriters Association has released its first football rankings for the 2026 season, with Monroe ranked No. 1 in Class B. The rankings include 11 teams from Section V, including University Prep and Brighton. Monroe, currently 2-0, won its last game 64-19 against McQuaid. East High/World of Inquiry, ranked No. 9 in Class B, also boasts a 1-0 record after a 49-0 victory over Aquinas/RACS. Both teams will face off Friday, September 18, in a key matchup.
