On June 12, Montana fisherman Trevor Swisse reeled in a 117-pound paddlefish at Seven Sisters Wildlife Management Area after it evaded capture for 22 years. The massive fish was tagged by North Dakota Fish and Game staff in 2004, when it weighed 90 pounds and measured 49 inches. Swisse was fishing with his children when he hooked the fish, which is estimated to be between 40 and 62 years old. Montana's regional fisheries manager, Mike Backes, confirmed the significance of the catch due to its size and history. The fish's exact age will be determined next spring based on a collected jaw section.
