Mount Carmel defeats Marist in Catholic League Blue football action

Mount Carmel pulled away late to secure a 56-26 victory over Marist on Friday night in Chicago. The Caravan remained undefeated, moving to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the Catholic League Blue. Quarterback Brady Cloherty threw for 295 yards and five touchdowns, while tight end Ty Kennedy contributed four catches for 66 yards and two scores. The offense erupted for 28 points in the final eight minutes after the RedHawks had narrowed the deficit to 28-20 earlier in the second half. Marist quarterback Jake Fleming finished the night with 211 passing yards and three touchdowns in the loss. Kennedy, a transfer from Crown Point, is scheduled to visit Illinois and Northwestern following the win.
