Newcastle shifts focus to Teun Koopmeiners after Hojbjerg snub

Summary

Newcastle United is reportedly considering a renewed approach for Teun Koopmeiners after Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg declined their offer. Hojbjerg's decision not to join, following a near agreement with Olympique de Marseille, has left Newcastle seeking to strengthen their midfield. The club has seen significant player departures, including Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali, which have heightened their urgency to sign a top midfielder. Koopmeiners, a 28-year-old midfielder from Juventus, fits Newcastle's tactical needs and has been monitored by the club's scouts. With the Premier League opener against Liverpool approaching, Newcastle aims to finalize their squad depth before the match.
