Nick Saban joins media campaign for the Protect College Sports Act

Former Alabama coach Nick Saban will appear in a television commercial advocating for the Protect College Sports Act. The advertisement is scheduled to air during the first full Saturday of the college football season. The bipartisan legislation, authored by senators Ted Cruz and Maria Cantwell, aims to establish federal guidelines for college sports. Although the bill passed through committee and gained support from both the SEC and Big Ten, a Senate floor vote was delayed before the current legislative recess. Senate Majority Leader John Thune previously filed for cloture on the measure. Lawmakers are expected to return from their break on September 14, at which point proponents say a vote is guaranteed to proceed.
