- 5:48 PMCageside Seats — Nigel McGuinness’ AEW/ROH injury said to be an ‘obvious’ work
"While discussing Nigel McGuinness’ match with Hechicero on AEW Dynamite on Wrestling Obeserver Radio, hosts Bryan Alvarez and Dave Meltzer had this to say about the foot injury McGuinness suffered in his previous Continental Cup Tournament match… Alvarez: We’ve got Nigel McGuinness, working injured allegedly… He’s not hurt… clearly… Meltzer: I know he’s not hurt… it’s quite obvious he’s not. They go on to pan Nigel’s match with Hechicero from Aug. 19’s show in Baltimore, which I don’t necessarily disagree with even if I’m not sold on how “clearly” storyline the 50-year-old Englishman’s injury is. It seems at least conceivable to me that the full-time announcer tweaked something in his ankle AND Tony Khan & team decided to use it to sell the ROH legend’s underdog journey back to Wembley Stadium. That it doesn’t make a ton of sense to add a worked injury to a part-timer’s cinderella story doesn’t surprise me too much… TK & team have made several decisions that don’t make a ton of sense to me this summer. What do you think?
