North Queensland Cowboys sign Joe Chan from Melbourne Storm

The North Queensland Cowboys have secured Melbourne Storm forward Joe Chan on a two-year contract beginning in 2027. Although the 24-year-old was originally signed with Melbourne through the end of 2028, the club granted him an early release to facilitate the move. Chan made his NRL debut in 2023 and has logged 47 appearances for the Melbourne club, including 18 matches during the current season. Cowboys recruitment manager Clint Zammit stated the team plans to utilize Chan as a versatile option in both the middle and on the edge. He previously spent time playing in the UK Super League and is the son of former Kiwi international Alex Chan. Storm head of football Frank Ponissi confirmed the departure and expressed appreciation for the forward's four-year tenure with the team.
