Oduwaiye and Cronin earn silver and bronze for Wales at Commonwealth Games

Funmi Oduwaiye and Bree Cronin secured silver and bronze medals in the women’s F42-44/F61-64 discus final at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Oduwaiye achieved a Commonwealth Games record of 38.52 metres with her opening throw, while Cronin recorded a season-best of 36.00 metres. The gold medal was claimed by Nigeria's Goodness Nwachuku, who set a world record for the F42 category with a final throw of 39.66 metres. Both athletes had previously finished fourth and fifth at the World Para Athletics Championships in India in 2025. Oduwaiye now adds to her bronze in the F44 shot put from the same event in 2025.
