Orono defeats Becker in coach Dwight Lundeen's final season opener

Orono opened its season with a 35-28 victory over Becker on September 3 at Dwight Lundeen Stadium. Despite Becker holding a nine-point lead with less than eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, Orono rallied to score 23 points in the final frame. Orono quarterback Finn Dyvik connected with Owen Paulson for a 68-yard touchdown pass to spark the comeback, and Hudson Hirt secured the win with a go-ahead sweep in the final minute. The game marked the beginning of the farewell season for Becker head coach Dwight Lundeen, who is ending a 57-year tenure. Becker committed several critical errors during the loss, including a fumble on a kick return and snaps over the quarterback's head. Becker is scheduled to face Hutchinson on the road on September 11.
