Oviedo football overcomes early deficit to defeat Melbourne 48-24

Oviedo secured a 48-24 victory over Melbourne in a district football game held September 10. Despite the Bulldogs taking an early 3-0 lead and recording two first-quarter interceptions, the Lions responded with 24 points in the second quarter. Oviedo maintained momentum through the air and on the ground, tallying 12 plays of 15 yards or more, including five touchdowns ranging from 27 to 88 yards. Melbourne sophomore Tyrese Jefferson finished the game with 257 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries, while quarterback Will Reinhold threw for 243 yards and one score in the second half. Melbourne coach Jeff Pannucci cited an inability to stop big plays and a failure to capitalize on turnovers as primary factors in the loss. The Bulldogs, now 2-2, host Palm Bay on September 18 in their next contest.
