Packers sign David Blay Jr. to practice squad after tryout

The Green Bay Packers have signed rookie defensive lineman David Blay Jr. to their practice squad. The signing occurred on September 30, following tryouts for Blay and wide receiver Coleman Owens. Blay, who went undrafted out of Miami (FL), previously had stints with the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles. The Packers created space on their practice squad by releasing Cordell Volson and Damon Bankston. Blay, standing 6-2 and weighing 295 pounds, recorded solid statistics at Louisiana Tech but struggled in his time with the Eagles, particularly as a run defender.
