Pakistan Cricket Board removes seven players during ongoing England Test series

Following a 194-run loss at Lord's, the Pakistan Cricket Board dismissed seven players from the squad mid-tour. The board also removed head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and bowling coach Umar Gul after the team fell to a 2-0 deficit in the series. Replacements, including five uncapped domestic players alongside Saim Ayub and Abdullah Fazal, were called up to join the team for the remaining match at Edgbaston. Mike Hesson and Ashley Noffke have been brought in to oversee the coaching duties for the upcoming fixture. This decision follows a history of similar mid-tour purges within the organization, including the 2010 ban of senior players during a tour of Australia and the 2024 exclusion of Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Naseem Shah during a home series against England.
