Panthers release linebacker Trevin Wallace after two seasons

Carolina Panthers general manager Dan Morgan confirmed the difficult decision to waive linebacker Trevin Wallace as part of the team's final roster cuts. The 23-year-old defender, selected by Carolina in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, did not secure a starting position during training camp. Over 25 games with the team, Wallace recorded 125 combined tackles, 3.0 sacks, four passes defensed, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. The Panthers ultimately opted for other options at inside linebacker, bringing in free agents Bobby Okereke and Tyrel Dodson to compete alongside Devin Lloyd and Claudin Cherelus. Following his release, Wallace was claimed off waivers by the New York Jets on Monday. Morgan cited his close working relationship with Wallace while expressing support for the player as he transitions to his new team.
