Patriots sign Jeremiah Franklin ahead of training camp

The New England Patriots have signed former Boston College tight end Jeremiah Franklin prior to the start of training camp this weekend. Franklin previously participated in the Patriots' local pro day and attended rookie minicamp as a tryout player. He recorded 49 catches for 506 yards and two touchdowns during his senior season at Boston College. With Julian Hill on IR and C.J. Dippre on the PUP list, Franklin will compete for a roster spot amid a tight end depth chart that remains in flux. Training camp practices begin Saturday morning.
