Penn State opens museum exhibit dedicated to Joe Paterno

Penn State University opened the Paterno Family Football Experience Room at Beaver Stadium on September 3, 2026. The permanent exhibit features artifacts from the late coach’s career, including his original desk, championship trophies, and a timeline of team history. This marks the most significant institutional recognition of Joe Paterno since his 2011 firing following the Jerry Sandusky child-sex abuse scandal. Current head coach Matt Campbell has actively engaged with the Paterno family and program alumni since his arrival, stating he views the program's history as a team superpower. The exhibit opens as the team prepares to begin the 2026 season against the Marshall Thundering Herd. It also precedes a court hearing for Jerry Sandusky scheduled for later this month in Centre County Court.
