Pensacola Blue Wahoos maintain Southern League lead following August surge

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos head into the final 11 games of the 2026 season holding a divisional lead in the Southern League. After a difficult loss on August 9, the team won 14 of 17 games to close out the month. The Blue Wahoos currently hold a 73-53 record, the best in the league and the third-best among all 30 Double-A organizations. Manager Nelson Prada credited the team's persistence during the August 9 game against the Montgomery Biscuits as the catalyst for the subsequent winning streak. Brandon Compton and Juan Matheus were elevated to Triple-A Jacksonville on Wednesday to provide depth following the expansion of rosters to 28 players. The team concludes its road trip Sunday against the Columbus Clingstones before returning home to face the Biloxi Shuckers.
