Petr Yan defeats Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 333, sparks controversy

At UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi, Petr Yan faced Merab Dvalishvili in a highly anticipated trilogy bout. Yan secured a unanimous decision victory with all judges scoring the fight 48-47 in his favor, marking his second win over Dvalishvili in their three-fight series. Dvalishvili had previously beaten Yan in March 2023, but Yan rallied after losing the first two rounds to take the final three. Ilia Topuria's vocal support for Dvalishvili and objections to the judges' scoring led Sean O'Malley to criticize Topuria's judgment, suggesting bias from their friendship. The fallout from the fight continues as O'Malley calls for objectivity.
