PGA Tour and DP World Tour propose changes to golf ball testing standards

The PGA Tour and DP World Tour released a revised proposal to modify golf ball testing conditions, aiming to affect driving distances at elite levels. This proposal includes establishing an Overall Distance Standard of 317 yards plus a 3-yard tolerance. In response to feedback from players regarding the previous model's potential ineffectiveness, the new plan aims for a more comprehensive approach to tackle the increase in distance. The USGA and R&A will accept comments on the revised proposal until October 21, and any new rules might be implemented as soon as 2030.
