The PGA Tour will revamp the Tour Championship starting in 2028, introducing a match-play format featuring 32 players divided into eight pools. This change was announced by Commissioner Brian Rolapp on August 25 at East Lake Golf Club. Each player will compete in round-robin matches before the top two from each pool advance to the knockout rounds. The first round of matches will take place at one venue, with subsequent rounds held at different locations. Rolapp emphasized the need for a season finale that reflects players’ efforts throughout the year.
