PGA Tour plans to rotate Tour Championship venues beginning in 2028

The PGA Tour will end the exclusive hosting streak of East Lake Golf Club for the Tour Championship after the 2027 season. Future schedules for the season finale will feature a rotating list of venues rather than a permanent home. This shift follows the implementation of a new 90-player stroke-play Championship Series finale and a two-week match-play format for the top 32 players starting in 2028. The transition creates financial uncertainty for Atlanta-based charities, including the East Lake Foundation and First Tee of Metro Atlanta, which previously received millions in annual support through the event. Beyond the impact on local non-profits, the move removes a reliable economic driver for city hotels, restaurants, and event service providers.
