Phillies sign Brandon Lewis after standout month in independent league

The Philadelphia Phillies have signed Brandon Lewis, a former Los Angeles Dodgers prospect, to a minor league contract on June 18. Lewis, who played the last two seasons with the York Revolution in the Atlantic League, had an impressive month, hitting 19 home runs and driving in 59 runs over just 44 games. His performance included a team-record 12 homers in May. Lewis, previously released by the Dodgers after the 2024 season, has not been under contract with an MLB team since then. The York Revolution manager praised his dedication and improvement since joining the team. Lewis first reached Double-A in 2022 but faced challenges in subsequent seasons, striking out 194 times in 2023 and 2024.
