Phoenix Crossland receives four-match suspension from NRL judiciary

Phoenix Crossland of the Newcastle Knights has been suspended for four matches following a hip drop tackle on Nathan Cleary of the Penrith Panthers. Crossland's actions during the recent match resulted in Cleary sustaining a compound fracture and requiring surgery. This decision was made by the NRL judiciary after Crossland was sent off during the game. The Knights had anticipated a suspension and had named him in the squad for an upcoming match against the Sydney Roosters solely for administrative reasons. Crossland's suspension will also prevent him from participating in the Rugby League World Cup group stage, as he will still have three matches left to serve.
