Pirates activate Konnor Griffin from injured list ahead of game

Konnor Griffin has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list and will play for the Pittsburgh Pirates against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday. Griffin had been sidelined since May 31 due to a right forearm strain. Before his injury, the 20-year-old appeared in 51 games, hitting.270 with four home runs and 22 RBI. He recently played a rehab game for Double-A Altoona, going 2 for 2 with a home run. To clear space for Griffin on the roster, infielder Jack Brannigan was optioned to Double-A Altoona.
