Pirates pitching coach Bill Murphy sees improvement potential

Pittsburgh Pirates pitching coach Bill Murphy expressed confidence in his team's ability to improve on the mound. In his first season with the Pirates, Murphy highlighted the need to reduce the sizable number of walks they have issued this season, currently totaling 287. He noted that while the staff has struggled, he believes there are capable pitchers who have yet to show their full potential. The team's ERA is 4.17, placing them 16th in MLB. Murphy referenced his experience with the Houston Astros, where he dealt with similar challenges during successful stretches.
