Pirates recall Esmerlyn Valdez, option Davis Wendzel to Triple-A

The Pittsburgh Pirates recalled outfielder Esmerlyn Valdez from Triple-A Indianapolis on June 11, 2026, following Oneil Cruz's placement on the injured list. Valdez made his MLB debut last month, hitting two home runs in five games. In 56 Triple-A games this season, he recorded a.255 batting average with 13 home runs. To make room for Valdez, the Pirates optioned infielder Davis Wendzel, who had no hits in his brief stint.
