Pirates trade Joey Bart to Braves, acquire Hunter Stratton

The Pittsburgh Pirates traded catcher Joey Bart to the Atlanta Braves on June 19, addressing their crowded catching situation. Bart was recovering from a foot infection and was soon to return to the active roster, but Pittsburgh chose to keep the younger Endy Rodriguez and Henry Davis instead. In return, the Pirates received Hunter Stratton, a right-handed reliever optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis. Stratton has made one major league appearance for the Braves this season after being designated for assignment. Pittsburgh continues to seek improvements in its bullpen, which ranks 20th in MLB in reliever ERA.
