Pitt quarterback Mason Heintschel earns weekly national honors after five touchdown win

Pittsburgh quarterback Mason Heintschel received Maxwell Award Player of the Week and Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week honors on Wednesday. The recognition follows his performance in a 59-14 win over Miami (OH) last Saturday, where he threw for 453 yards and seven touchdowns. His seven scoring passes tied a single-game record for Pitt, and he became the first FBS quarterback since Joe Burrow to reach 450 passing yards and seven touchdowns without an interception. Heintschel successfully distributed the ball to seven different wide receivers during the victory. Entering his second season with the program, the quarterback recorded 2,354 passing yards and 16 touchdowns in 10 games last year. Pitt prepares to host UCF this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
