Polk County athletes earn Tremendous 10 nominations after record performances

Polk County athletes across multiple sports received nominations for the Tremendous 10 poll this week following strong individual performances. Junior Emma Wilkinson of Lakeland Christian broke an 18-year-old county record in cross country with a time of 18:28.28 at the St. Cloud XC Invitational. All Saints eighth-grader Charlotte Roy also recorded an 18:28.49 finish at the same event, setting a school record. On the football field, Lake Gibson senior Raymond Diaz rushed for 129 yards and a touchdown in a 15-0 win over Spoto, while Lake Wales wide receiver Kaneilius Purdy caught five passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns. Volleyball standouts Bridget Wilson and Hali Vatikiotis also earned recognition for their contributions to their respective teams. Nominations for the weekly poll are due by 9 a.m. each Monday.
