The Preakness Stakes will take place on a Sunday for the first time in 2027, scheduled for May 23 at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. Maryland Governor Wes Moore announced the date change, aligning with a new broadcasting agreement with NBC. This move comes after other races in the Triple Crown series excluded the Preakness from a newly formed six-race championship series. The Maryland Jockey Club aims to enhance participation in the Triple Crown despite changes to traditional scheduling. The Black-Eyed Susan Stakes will also move to Saturday in this agreement.
