Pro Football Hall of Fame updates bylaws and reduces voting panel size

The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced significant revisions to its selection bylaws, including a reduction of the voting panel from 50 members to 28. This new committee will consist of 27 at-large voters and one representative from the Pro Football Writers of America. The changes eliminate the separate seniors category, merging all player eligibility into a single pool to remove the previous 25-year modern era window. Finalists will now consist of 13 players, one coach, and one contributor, with the coach and contributor spots determined by separate committees., the selection meeting will move to a format where a non-voting individual presents all candidates to ensure consistency. These changes follow a two-and-a-half-year internal review of the induction process.
