Process servers serve Shilo Sanders at bankruptcy court in Denver

Shilo Sanders was served with legal papers while attending his bankruptcy trial in Denver on August 31. The former Colorado safety had previously been difficult to locate, with process servers failing to serve him at his Florida residence on at least five occasions in June. The lawsuit, filed by Barnes & Thornburg LLP in Texas, alleges that Sanders owes $170,000 in unpaid legal fees. This case is separate from a pending bankruptcy trial where Sanders is attempting to discharge an $11.89 million default judgment awarded to John Darjean in 2022. That judgment stemmed from a 2015 assault at a school in Dallas. A verdict regarding the bankruptcy case is expected after November 16, when final written arguments are due.
